How to Migrate Comet Backup Data from Any S3 Bucket to an Impossible Cloud Bucket
This article explains how you can migrate to Impossible Cloud Storage and continue your Comet backup job using the seed load functionality in Comet Backup.
Step 1: Create a bucket in Impossible Cloud Console
You'll need to create a bucket in your Impossible Cloud Storage console.
To use the immutability feature, you'll need to create a bucket with versioning and Object Lock enabled and retention disabled.
Here is a link to the Impossible Cloud Storage documentation, which includes detailed instructions and screenshots for creating a bucket with versioning and Object Lock.
Step 2: Create a new storage vault in Comet Backup pointing to the new bucket
Follow steps 3a to 4a on the seed load walkthrough in the following Comet Documentation.
Step 3: Migrate the data from the source bucket to the new Impossible Cloud bucket
Follow the steps in this Knowledge Base Article to copy data from any s3 bucket to an Impossible Cloud Bucket using rClone.
Note. To prevent new data from coming in during the copy operation, make sure to pause all scheduled backup jobs to the source bucket before the migration.
Step 4: Continue your backup
Start testing your new Impossible Cloud Storage vault by performing restore or backup operation and continue serving your customer using Impossible Cloud Storage as the destination.
