Veeam Backup and Replication provides an option to select a different data block size for processing virtual machines, enhancing job performance and storage efficiency. The ideal block size varies based on the chosen storage type for the target and the dimensions of your files.
If you are experiencing a backup performance issues with Veeam Backup & Replication 12, we strongly recommend to set the Storage Optimization to 4 MB setting in each Veeam backup plan you are using with Impossible Cloud Storage.
How to change the Storage Optimization setting in Veeam
Step 1: Browse to the backup jobs
Open Veeam Backup and Replication Console and browse to Jobs -> Backup
Step 2: Edit the backup jobs to Impossible Cloud Storage
Find the backup job which is storing data to Impossible Cloud, right click - > Edit
Step 3: Open advanced settings
Browse to the "Storage" tab on the left and click "Advanced" on the bottom right of the window
Step 4: Set the Storage Optimization setting to 4 MB
Browse to the "Storage" tab on the top and select "4 MB" from the "Storage optimization" drop-down menu, then click "OK"
Step 5: Save the updated setting
Click "Finish" to save the changed setting and exit.
Result
The following backup job to Impossible Cloud should use the new setting.
